Declan Bonner was delighted with everything about his work-in-progress Donegal last weekend bar the result.

Donegal scored 3-14 against Kerry in Killarney, but lost as Kerry hit 2-18 in return.

A spirited second-half performance by Donegal looked good enough until Kerry swung the pendulum in added time.

Now, Donegal host Galway – who overcame Tyrone on Sunday – in Letterkenny this weekend looking to get a first League win of 2018.

“Winning can become a good habit,” Bonner said.

“As much as the performance in Killarney was very good, we didn’t get anything out of it. We will need to improve on it and get better in certain areas.

“In terms of attitude, it was what were looking for. We wanted players to take on responsibility and they did that against Kerry on their own patch. We had a lot of positivity and energy leaving Killarney on Sunday.

“We need the supporters to stay with us and work with the group. We want everyone moving in the one direction. They’re working so hard from Sunday to Sunday.”
