A heavy snow shower this evening has created dangerous road conditions across Donegal.
Emergency services have attended the scene of an accident on the N13 road at Drumkeen on the Letterkenny – Ballybofey Road near the service station at Trentaboy. Motorists are advised to take extreme care in this area.
Traffic is also moving very slowly in Letterkenny town centre and around Milford following the snow shower.
A Status Yellow snow-ice warning is in place until midnight tonight, with a Status Yellow low temperature warning also valid until 4am tomorrow.
Donegal County Council deployed gritters on all major routes after 3pm this afternoon. Motorists are advised to assume that no road is ice free. With widespread sharp frost, there will be slippery roads and paths due to ice on untreated surfaces. Gritters will be out again from 6am on Wednesday morning.
Forecasters have warned that an extremely cold night is in store, with lows of -3 and -4 degrees and a minimum of -6 in places.
