Dunfanaghy Text Alert will be holding its first A.G.M on Wednesday night 21st February at 8pm in the Shibin function room behind the Oyster Bar in Dunfanaghy.

The meeting marks a one year milestone for the service which sends messages to subscribers from Gardai advising them of suspicious or criminal activity in their local area. It also supports existing Community Crime Prevention Programmes.

Guest speakers on the night will be Vanessa Clarke from Muntir Na Tire, and Donegal Text Alert Coordinator and Crime Prevention Officer Sargent Paul Wallace will also be present. Other members of An Garda Siochana are being invited subject to availability on the night.

Chairperson Michael Mc Clafferty has invited all members along to this event and also any new members who are interested in joining.

He said: “This is a public meeting and you don’t have to be a member to attend.”

Mr Mc Clafferty shared some information regarding registration renewals this year: “We hope that you have found the service useful throughout 2017 and we look forward to working with you again in 2018. It also needs to be pointed out that not all renewals will be up at present, the reason for this is as 2017 was our first year and it was new to everyone in this Area and Neighbouring areas also who asked to join the Service it took a great deal of time to get from door to door to explain how it would work in detail.

“So for this reason, some members may be asked to renew a little earlier than your actual date may fall due. The reason is we are trying to get all or most members in together as best we can for 2018 to tie in with the A.G.M as it’s all voluntary work. The public will appreciate we want to make it convenient as possible for all involved within the service.”

Collection Boxes will be introduced on the night to help reduce door to door calls where possible.

Should anybody wish to express an interest in joining our Committee in 2018 please contact 0838274397 or E Mail dunfanaghytextalert@gmail.com.
