Remember our hearts start beating at 18 days – Donegal Prolife

The Donegal Prolife group has appealed to the public to remember that human hearts start beating after just 18 days of conception.

The statement is part of a campaign being backed by the group ahead of the upcoming referendum to repeal the Eighth Amendment, which prevents abortion.

The group said “Life is for living and loving. So let us all cherish life! The heart of the child waiting to be born is made for love, not lethal injection.

“St Valentine gave HIS life for couples in love, so that they might seal their life-giving love in Christian marriage. So, celebrate him and celebrate life!

“The great danger for family life, in the midst of any society whose idols are pleasure, comfort and independence, lies in the fact that people close their hearts and become selfish.” (St John Paul II)”

Meanwhile, the group has also reminded the public that author and columnist John and Fr Marcel, priest and philosopher, will speak on the impact of a repeal of the 8th on the Irish Constitution this Friday 16th Feb at 7.30 in Plaza Buncrana.
