Donegal Gaeltacht native Caitlín Nic Aoidh will be at the helm of this year’s Seachtain na Gaeilge as a proud brand ambassador for the festival.

Caitlín has this week been unveiled as one of the Seachtain na Gaeilge 2018 ambassadors – taking on the role alongside All Star winner Noel McGrath and Snapchat star James Patrice.

As a TG4 weather presenter and keen Snapchatter, Caitlín is already a strong advocate of the Irish language for young people. The Cloughaneely native will be leading the celebration of Irish throughout March 1-17th to show people how to have fun with the language.

Caitlín shared her delight to take on the role this year, saying she is looking forward to attending many events, especially in the Gaeltacht regions.

She said: “Mar bhean Ghaeltachta tá lúcháir mhór orm a bheith i m’ambasadóir ar Sheachtain na Gaeilge le Energia. Cuidíonn an fhéile go mór leis an Ghaeilge a chur chun cinn ó cheann ceann na tire. I mbliana tá mé ag dúil go mór freastal ar léar mór imeachtai, cinn sa Ghaeltacht ach go háirithe!”

We’ll be seeing more of Caitlín in the weeks to come as she encourages the public, teachers, schoolchildren and people across the world to use a ‘cúpla focal’.

Visit the Seachtain na Gaeilge website (snag.ie) for information about events.
