Cllr Mac Giolla Easbuig says that he is honoured with the role, and aims to promote Irish both north and south of the border.

“Toghadh mise inniu mar Chathaoireach ar Choiste Gaeilge Chomhairle Condae Dhún na nGall I gcuideachta an Chomharleora John Shéamuis Ó Fearraigh,” he announced.

“Beidh mise I mo Chathaoireach ar feadh 6 mhí Agustin an Co Ó Fearraigh ar feadh 6 mhí eile. Tá mé iontach brodúil as ceapúcháin an lae inniu.

“Cupla pointe a d’ardaigh mé inniu…sé sin go bhfuil se tábhachtach go labharfadh na Bainisteoirí agus Comharleorí Gaeilge má tá sí acu ag na cruinnithe agus go mbeadh an córas aistriúcháin ar fáil ag na cruinnithe uilig ní go díreach ag cruinnithe poiblí agus fosta gur cheart na cruinnithe a chraoladh beo ar an idirlíon.

“Mhol mé tacaíocht a thabhairt dAcht na Gaeilge ó thuaidh agus cuireadh a thabhairt do ball an fheachtais ó thuaidh freastal ar chruinniú de Choiste na Gaeilge.
