Met Eireann has this morning added to their weather advisory as the ‘Beast from the East’ approaches.
Five days of extremely cold temperatures, ice and snowfall are in store this week as a Siberian weather blast hits Ireland.
The Status Yellow cold weather warnings were escalated to Status Orange for Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Louth, Wicklow and Meath.
An all-Ireland alert has been extended for all counties to prepare for exceptionally cold conditions from midnight on Monday until 6pm on Satuday, 3rd March.
All counties will be on low temperature alert from Monday at 5pm as lows of -5 are forecast, bringing severe frost.
“Air and ground temperatures will be 5 to 10 degrees below normal, with significant wind chill and penetrating severe frosts,” Met Eireann warns.
Heavy and persistent snow showers are expected on Tuesday, with the worst to hit on Thursday. Snow accumulations will reach disruptive levels by Thursday, forecasters say.
The public is advised to visit winterready.ie to prepare for the severe weather.
