GAA says contingency plan is in place in case of adverse weather

The GAA has said that a fixtures plan is being put in place to cater for any impact on scheduled games by adverse weather this week.

A full programme of Allianz League games are down for decision this weekend.

On Saturday evening, the Donegal footballers are set to face Tyrone at Healy Park in Division 1 while the Donegal hurlers are pencilled in for an away clash with Armagh on Sunday at the Athletic Grounds in Division 2B.

Five days of extremely cold temperatures, ice and snowfall are in store this week as a Siberian weather blast hits Ireland.

The Status Yellow cold weather warnings were escalated to Status Orange for Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Louth, Wicklow and Meath.

A GAA statement said: “The GAA can confirm that a fixtures plan is being put in place to cater for any potential negative impact caused by the adverse weather on the Allianz Leagues.

“If required, the details of this contingency plan will be announced later in the week.”
