‘Not many teams will come and turn them over’ – Ollie Horgan hails super away win

Ollie Horgan says his Finn Harps side bagged a result last night that few others in the First Division will manage.

Late goals by John O’Flynn and Ciaran O’Connor saw Harps complete a smash-and-grab for three points against Cobh Ramblers at St Colman’s Park.

Harps had goalkeeper Ciaran Gallagher to thank for keeping the sheet clean before O’Flynn broke the deadlock and, deep into added time, O’Connor sealed the deal for a 2-0 win.

“It was a battle from start to finish,” Horgan said.

“We’re delighted to get three points. Not many teams will come down here and turn them over. We weathered the storm and, to be fair, we finished fairly strongly. Cobh will think they’re unfortunate and I’d agree with that.

“Teams will take points each other. Cobh are a handful. The energy and the age profile of them, they will be right up there and that will be a temporary set back.

“At least we’re up and running now. It’s a savage division. It’s way ahead of where we were at three years ago.”

O’Flynn netted last Monday in the EA Sports Cup win over Mayo League and tucked in the opener last night.

Horgan said of the veteran striker: “That’s what he does. He adds a bit of experience to the team as well. It’s great to have John and he’s given a great commitment.”
