The HSE has announced that new Primary Care Centres at Donegal Town and Dunfanaghy are being progressed through Public-Private Partnerships.

A new Primary Care Centre has also been approved for Burtonport.

This will be provided by a lease agreement at a newly refurbished state of the art building at the pier.

A range of primary care services will be available from each Primary Care Centre including GP Services, Public Health Nursing Services, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech & language Therapy.

In addition the new Primary Care Centre at Donegal Town will provide Disability Services and Children and Adult Mental Health Services.

The new Primary Care Centre at Dunfanaghy will provide an ambulance deployment point.

Both Donegal Town and Dunfanaghy will now proceed to planning and it is envisaged that they will be operational by 2020.

It is envisaged that the Burtonport Primary Care Centre will be operational by early 2019.

Mr John Hayes Chief Officer, Community Healthcare Organisation Area 1 (Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan & Sligo) welcomed these developments stating” I am delighted to welcome this significant commitment to Primary Care Centre provision in Donegal. Through these centres we will continue to ensure we provide the best care possible to the communities we serve”.
