Lidl Ireland has warned customers of a viral text scam that has been circulating in recent days.
The text, purporting to be from Lidl, promises a ‘big surprise package’ waiting for the recipient; however the only surprise the victim may receive is realising they’ve been scammed.
The text then prompts the recipient to follow a link, leading to a bogus site. The site then urges the victim to share their personal details to avail of the ‘surprise’.
Lidl shared a screenshot of the phoney text, commenting: “Please look out for this scam going ’round by text!”
“Don’t engage with this as it isn’t us!”
