Listen: Kilcar goalkeeper Eamonn McGinley reflects on 2018 Championship draw

Eamonn McGinley was just relieved not to have had to take a question about a Group of Death this afternoon.

The Kilcar goalkeeper could be relatively content with the 2018 Donegal SFC draw – even if Kilcar do begin their quest to retain Dr Maguire in Fintra against Killybegs!

Kilcar managed to avoid any of the so-called ‘big guns’ in the draw after winning the title for the first time since 1993.

But McGinley knows what will await in their opener.

“A lot of people in Killybegs will use it as ammo – the chance to take a cut out of Kilcar,” he smiled.

“The horns went on last year going through Killybegs and they’ll be well up for that one!”

McGinley minded the net as Kilcar defeated Naomh Conaill to end a long wait to take Dr Maguire back to Towney last year.

He said: “It’s been incredible. It’s something we as players dreamed of doing for a long time. To finally do it was some feeling, but 2017 is done and dusted. We’re back at the grindstone now again.”
