Gardaí in Buncrana are investigating an alleged theft and assault that occurred on a busy Donegal road earlier today.
A Garda spokesperson tells Donegal Daily that the victim had been carrying out a bucket collection in aid of a local sports team at Bonnemaine, Bridgend at noon today.
Three youths in a car approached the man, and grabbed the bucket from him. When he attempted to retrieve the bucket, he was allegedly assaulted by the suspects. His injuries are understood to be minor.
“The culprits left the scene in the direction of Buncrana with a sum of cash and investigations are ongoing,” the spokesperson added.
