De La Hoya: Jason Quigley will put on ‘spectacular’ show

Oscar De La Hoya has backed Jason Quigley to put on an Easter extravaganza in Boston.

Quigley (13-0, 10KOs) faces Puerto Rican Daniel Rosario (11-3, 10KOs) tomorrow night at the Marina Bay Sportsplex (live ESPN/eirSport).

Although now based with Dominic Ingle in Sheffield, Quigley remains attached to the Golden Boy Promotions stable.

Former ten-time World champion De La Hoya has been impressed by the rise of Quigley, now ranked sixth by the WBC.

After a year out of action following a horror hand injury, sustained en route to winning the NABF middleweight title against Glen Tapia last March, De La Hoya is excited by the return of the Ballybofey man.

“I know that this time out of the ring has only made Jason even hungrier,” De La Hoya said.

“I expect him to put on a spectacular show for the fans.”

Quigley was snapped up by De La Hoya after a standout 2013 when he won Irish and European titles and collected a World silver medal.

De La Hoya said: “Jason is a phenomenal fighter who has steadily made a name for himself in the competitive middleweight division.

“As a former fighter myself, I understand the challenge of waiting and finding the right time to return to the ring following an injury.

“All of us at Golden Boy have been awaiting Jason’s return to the ring following his injury and recovery.

“We look forward to seeing him in action again.”

Quigley-Rosario is being shown live by eirSport with coverage beginning at 3am Irish time on Easter Sunday.
