Seán Mac Cumhaills opened their Division 2 campaign with a hard fought win at home in Ballybofey yesterday evening.

Seán Mac Cumhaill’s 3-9 Naomh Muire 1-9

The home side netted two early goals from Paddy Hannigan and Benny McLaughlin with the visitors opening their scoring with a point from Harry Harden.

Aaron Kelly for the home side and a double from Jack Boyle from frees. The home side stretched their lead to eight points with another point and goal from Mulligan and Hannigan. Another Harry Harden free kept the visitors scoreboard ticking over but it was Mac Cumhaills going into the second half with an eight-point lead.

MacCumhaill’s were 3-3 to 0-4 up at the break.

Mac Cumhaills drew first blood in the second half from a Mulligan point from play and Jack Boyle had another two converted frees for the visitors.

Gary Wilson had an excellent chance to add another goal to his side’s tally but the Naomh Muire keeper denied his effort for a 45’. Two Oisin Gallen points added to his side’s lead with Jack O’Brien replying for the Rosses men.

Chris Patton was called into action for Mac Cumhaills between the posts denying a goal bound effort but Daniel Devlin followed  up to net his side only goal of the game. The game ended with both sides trading points from Gallen and Jack O’Donnell.
