Figures released by the CSO today shows that the unemployment rate has remained unchanged for the past two months.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March was 6.1%, unchanged from February 2018. Last month’s statistics do however show a decrease of 0.9% from March 2017.
The seasonally adjusted number of persons unemployed was 144,400 in March 2018, down from 146,300 when compared to the February 2018 figure and a decrease of 19,100 when compared to March 2017.
In March, the unemployment rate was 6.4% for males (83,100) and 5.6% (61,300) for females.
The adjusted unemployment rate for persons aged 15-24 years (youth unemployment rate) was 12.5% in March 2018, a decrease from 12.7% in February 2018.
