A warning has been issued to householders after a spate of home heating oil thefts.
One house in the Chestnut Grove area in Lifford has had its oil stolen on two occasions since Christmas.
The local Lifford/Clonleigh Community Text Alert Scheme has issued a warning to all local residents to be on the lookout for anybody acting suspiciously.
People are being encouraged to get a lock fitted to their tanks and if possible fit any other form of security around their tanks.
Other oil robberies have taken place in recent weeks in Letterkenny, Raphoe, Buncrana and Ballybofey.
A Garda spokesman said “People should ensure that their tanks are fully secure and if they notice any suspicious vehicles in their area to contact their local Garda station.”
