Council to consider ramps after speed fears expressed at Ramelton estate

Donegal County Council is to examine the possibility of installing traffic calming measures at a Ramelton housing estate after concern was expressed about speeding motorists.

Councillor Adrian Glackin told this month’s meeting of the Letterkenny Municipal District that there have already been scares on the road outside The Acres, at Tullymountain on the Ramelton-Milford road.

“It’s like an urban estate built in a rural area,” Councillor Glackin said.

“There are there entrances built around a corner and there are no traffic calming measures put in place at all. It’s on a main road and cars drive at speed.”

Donegal County Council said it had no remit to carry out work within the estate, but the Council has agreed to look at the possibility of installing ramps on the approach road.
