Donegal soldier is bound to the peace after assault

A 32-year-old soldier from Donegal has been bound to the peace by a District Court Judge.

Gary Heaney, of 1 Rossgier Close, Porthall, was before Letterkenny District Court on charges arising out of an incident on July 18, 2015.

Heaney, a member of the Defence Forces, was charged with assault, with using threatening, abusive, insulting behaviour and of being intoxicated in a public place at the Clanree Hotel, Letterkenny.

Judge Paul Kelly ordered Heaney to keep the peace for a period of 12 months on his own bond of €250.
