Inishowen League – Aileach lose to Greeks and it’s advantage Glengad

It’s advantage Glengad United in the race for the Jackie Crossan Premier Division title in the Inishowen League after last night’s action on the peninsula.

Title-chasing Aileach were beaten 3-0 by Greencastle United as Nigel McMonagle’s brace and another by Conor Gillen gave the Chapel Lane men the win.

The defeat was only Aileach’s second League reversal of the season. Aileach missed the chance to move out on their own at the summit as defeat means they stay level with Glengad. Crucially, Shane Byrne’s side now have a game in hand.

Aileach and Glengad do have to meet before the season’s end, however.

Culdaff overcame Buncrana Hearts 4-2 with Michael Coyle (2), Benny McLaughlin and Aiden Cunningham netting for the victors with Adam Doherty and Stephen McHugh registering for Buncrana.
