Summer has sprung into action this week in Ireland – and Donegal has seen the best of it so far.

The Malin Head weather station recorded a high of 20.0 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. The only other location to have such highs was Phoenix Park in Dublin.

Today, Donegal is in for a day of sunshine and blue skies after the morning cloud clears. We can expect highs of 16-17 degrees with a breeze near the coastline.

Met Eireann have forecast a sunny weekend for all counties. Friday will have good spells of sunshine, with Saturday to be the hottest day so far. The north west is due to bake under warm and humid conditions and highs of 19 degrees.

Anyone planning a beach day should get out early on Saturday, as showers are forecast for the evening.
