Ulster Bank investigating urgent issue of disappearing funds

Ulster Bank customers have been experiencing issues with their banking accounts this morning following an unexpected error.

Customers across the Republic of Ireland have discovered wages and transfers missing from their accounts today.  The issue is affecting some customers who have direct debits to pay, with no funds to cover the amounts.

The problem relates to transactions made over the weekend since Friday 20th April. The transfers are no longer logged to people’s online banking accounts and their balances have changed.

Ulster Bank representatives said they currently don’t have a timescale on a fix for the issue, but are investigating this as a matter of urgency. They are asking customers not to attempt to resend payments.

A statement said: “We are aware some transactions previously applied to customers accounts since 20th April are no longer showing.

“We are investigating this issue as a matter of urgency and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

“Please do not resend the payment as we are working to get these processed as soon as possible.

“If you would like to contact us please speak to one of our team via webchat or by calling 1850 424 365 (from abroad 00353 1 8047475) minicom – 0800 015 4422.”
