Naomh Muire remain without a single point in Division Two after suffering their sixth defeat in a row today in Tír Conaill Park at the hands of Four Masters.

The home side controlled the game throughout, however the two teams were quite equal in the opening 15 minutes of the match. Full forward Michael Doherty started the game on a high after landing a free 45 seconds into the match.
It took Naomh Muire eight minutes to kick their first score, with centre half forward Harry Harden landing his first of four points. Michael Doherty was clearly the danger man inside for Four Masters as he responded quickly with a fisted point of his own.
Naomh Muire remained powerful in attack at this point as they scored three unanswered points from Shaun “Yank” Boyle, Harry Harden and half back Daniel Gallagher as they capitalised on Four Masters combination of poor passing and turnovers.
Trailing by two points the home side took control and dominated in the last 10 minutes of the half with scores from Leo McHugh, Shaun Meehan, Michael Doherty and a beautiful fisted point from Patrick Reid.
A goal opportunity came just before half time when Aaron McCrea floated in a perfect ball which Patrick Reid palmed down for Michael Doherty to play it safe and fist over the bar. In the final attack of the half, the ever-present Kevin McBrearty powered through the heart of the Naomh Muire defence to leave space for Sean Meehan to fire the ball off his right foot to skid over the bar.
The intensity and work rate of Four Masters did not die down in the second half with Kevin McBrearty and Sean Meehan landing points early on. It took Naomh Muire 12 minutes to get their first score of the half with Harry Harden pointing a free. Patrick Reid remained dangerous inside for the home team as he punched over another point from a superb ball landed in by Kevin McBrearty.
Naomh Muire battled back strong with a point scored by Neil Antoine O’Donnell and two from Shaun “Yank” Boyle, however this was not enough as Four Masters sailed through on a five-point victory, with top class performances from Kevin McBrearty, Barry Dunnion and Patrick Reid.
With a victory today no doubt Four Masters will be ready and focused for their local derby against St Nauls next weekend in Mountcharles.
