Naomh Columba come through against Termon in Divison 2

NAOMH COLUMBA RAN out two-point winners over Termon in Division 2 this afternoon.

Naomh Columba 1-10  Termon 1-8

It was the home team who got of to the better start points from Ryan Gillespie (2) and Phillip Doherty within the first six minutes on 10 minutes, Aidan Sweeney got Termon on the board with a free.
Then, another good point from Phillip Doherty as it reopened the three-point gap another fine placed ball free kick from Aidan Sweeney then there was points traded on 21st minute Ryan Gillespie. Straight down the other end Daire McDaid got his first of the afternoon on 26th minute centre-half back Phillip Doherty got his third over of the day before two late scores from Daire McDaid put the bare minimum between the sides at the break.
Naomh Columba got of to the perfect start of the second half when good work from Aran Doherty and Ryan Gillespie before the ball ended up in the hands of half time sub Christopher Byrne who drilled the ball low to the left hand corner of the net.
Daire McDaid replied with another point  before on 37 minutes an Aran Doherty strike put four between them as Termon attempted to get back into it another Daire McDaid point this time from a free on 50.
Ryan Gillespie pointed from a free to take the safety net of a 4 point cushion but another McDaid point a minute later as it was coming down to nail biting time. A goal chance came and went on 56 minutes as an Aidan Sweeney shot was well saved by Shane O Gara to further points from Ryan Gillespie who elected to put over the bar after a fine save from Michael Boyle.
That was followed by an Aran Doherty free kick going into added time Termon got a late goal from the penalty spot as Daire McDaid made no mistake as the final whistle sounded.
