In a special programme at 11 am on Bank Holiday Monday 7 May, RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta will broadcast an interview with Dr Pádraig Ó Baoighill from Rann na Feirste about his life and work.

Pádraig was born in 1932 in Rann na Feirste. He was a talented footballer in his youth, and is well known as a writer, language activist and republican.

Above all else, however, his most important role in life has been that of a father of seven, and devoted husband to Gearóidín until she passed away on 6 December 2016.

RTÉ RnaG journalist Damien Ó Dónaill paid a visit to Pádraig at his home in Coolshannagh in Monaghan recently, where he spoke to him at length about his life and work, and listeners can hear it on Monday 7 May at 11 am on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta in the prorgamme An Dr. Pádraig Ó Baoighill – mo shaol agus mo shaothar.

The programme will be available after broadcast on the RnaG website www.rnag.ie for those who missed it.
