The most popular travel TV show in Italy, Kilimangiaro, which has more than 1 million viewers per episode, is filming in Donegal this week.
Tourism Ireland in Milan, in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland, invited camerawoman Annapia Chico and cameraman Diego Nicoletti to come and explore Donegal for the Kilimangiaro show.
It will air on the Italian national TV station, RAI Tre towards the end of 2018.
Filming will take place in destinations like the Slieve League Cliffs, Glenveagh National Park, Fanad Head Lighthouse as well as many more.
“We are delighted that the Kilimangiaro TV show is filming in Donegal this week – it’s the kind of publicity that money simply could not buy and a superb way to highlight the North West section of the Wild Atlantic Way to more than 1 million Italians, positioning Ireland as a highly desirable place to visit,” said Niamh Kinsella, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Italy.
“Publicity is an important element of our overall promotional programme, helping to raise awareness through the Italian media of the many things to see and do on a holiday around the island of Ireland,” she added.
2017 was the best year ever for tourism from Italy to Ireland. The county welcomed around 363,300 Italian visitors, an increase of 5.5% from 2016.
Tourism Ireland is determined to ensure that success continues and the organisation has an extensive programme of promotions under way in Italy in 2018.
