Donegal set to bask in mini-heatwave this weekend

Get the sun factor out and the beach towels ready, weather forecasters are suggesting that the beaches of Donegal are going to be hotter than those of Ibiza this weekend.

With temperatures expected to be as high as 19 C it’s looking likely that Saturday will become a beach day.

Going by usual Donegal weather it may be wise to enjoy the sun on Saturday. Who knows how long it will last or of we will even reach similar peaks this summer.

Have the ice-creams and cold beverages at the ready, and if you day plan on leaving the house to go somewhere, take a cooler bag with you. Nothing is worse than having to drink a hot bottle of water in sweltering heat.

Friday is also expected to be pretty hot with clear skies all day. Temperatures are expected to be around the 15 C mark but with a clear sky and no rain it will give the perfect opportunity for people to relax after work.

For today we are expecting to see the same type of weather to continue throughout judging by what Met Éireann are saying. Not overly hot and with a slight breeze – the perfect weather for your average person from Donegal.

Predominantly dry today, but somewhat cloudier compared with yesterday with the best of the sunshine likely in the east and northeast. Top temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees. pic.twitter.com/WA16yCElPh

The message from Met Éireann is that things could change on Sunday with a possibility of showers developing. That gives even more reason to enjoy a Saturday at the beach or just taking in the bright rays doing some light work around the house.

However for any hay fever sufferers worrying about the next few days, pollen levels are set to be low until Friday at least.

Met Éireann have yet to release details on how pollen levels will be after Friday but it’s likely that they will stay low giving the perfect opportunity to enjoy the weekend.
