The County Donegal Railway Restoration group has teamed up with a number of businesses and organisations on both sides of ‘the Gap’ to offer a unique tourism experience.

‘Making Tracks Day Out’ is a pilot initiative which promises to offer a full-day guided excursion that will include culture, heritage and ceol agus craic.

Partners include Donegal East Tourism, St Connells Museum in Glenties, The Isaac Butt Heritage Centre, Cloghan, William Rose, McKelvey’s Bar, Ballybofey, and Biddy’s O’Barnes. Together,

Ms Donna Maskery, Manager with the Railway Restoration group has praised the project. “We are all very excited to be trialling our Making Tracks Day Out excursion, the first of what we hope will be many collaborative projects.

“We have so much to offer in terms of culture, heritage and the environment and there is no limit to what we can do when the right people work together.

“It’s been fun so far, anything could happen, we will be using feedback from this event to develop our offering and who knows where it will go from here.  We only have a few seats left so if anyone is interested they should contact me ASAP to book a seat.”

The excursion will start at the Railway Heritage Centre in the Old Station House on Tyrconnell Street, Donegal town, at 10am on the 30th May. It will then visit St Connells Museum in Glenties, The Isaac Butt Heritage Centre, Cloghan, and McCelvey’s in Ballybofey before returning home to Donegal Town via Biddy’s O’Barnes. This is an ideal day out for anyone with an interest in our heritage, past and present.  Spaces are limited and booking is essential.

This trip is being offered at a very special price of €10 per person.

For more information contact Donna Maskery on 087 953 9041.
