There will be a lot of excitement and colourful scenes at Malin Head at the end of this month when almost 100 Dublin cyclists begin a mighty fundraising trip.
Almost 90 members of Kilmacud Crokes GAA club in Stillorgan, Co Dublin will be getting on their bikes over the June Bank Holiday (Wednesday, 30th May – Sunday, 3rd June) to complete the Nissan Malin to Mizen Challenge to raise funds which will be split between Breast Cancer Ireland and their club.
This is the fourth time this Donegal-Cork challenge has been undertaken by the club and the numbers of cyclists have grown each time. The group will cycle 670km and they aim to exceed the €108,000 they raised in 2016 which was shared between the beneficiaries. The group has raised over 100k euro for each of the beneficiaries from the last three events.

Professor Arnold Hill, Chairman of Breast Cancer Ireland, has also taken up the challenge and will lend his support by joining the group in Galway on Friday, 1st June.
CEO of Breast Cancer Ireland, Aisling Hurley said: “We are so grateful for the huge commitment and support of Kilmacud GAA Club and the substantial funds raised over the years through the Nissan M2M Challenge and we encourage all of our volunteers and supporters along the route to come out and support the cyclists as they pass by over the June Bank Holiday Weekend. Events such as this are an amazing way of raising awareness within communities of the importance of good breast health.”

Chairman of the fundraising committee, Liam O’Carroll said: “We are looking forward to the challenge which reverses the route we took in 2016 and excited to be getting on our bikes again to raise funds for this worthy cause and for our club. We all know by now what a gruelling challenge it is, but hopefully the weather will be good to us and we know that there will be a warm welcome for us when we all arrive at Mizen on Sunday, June 3rd”
Each cyclist makes a personal contribution of 300 euro towards their costs. Nissan Ireland have sponsored the cycling gear and polo shirts for the cyclists and support team and the motor group will provide three NV400 support vehicles along the route.
