Buncrana Tidy Towns has purchased and installed new public seating for the much-loved Fr. Hegarty’s walk.

Speaking after this weekend’s installation of the first of the new benches Buncrana Tidy Towns Spokesperson Sinéad Ní Bhroin said the work has been planned for some time.

“For some time now, it has been Buncrana Tidy Towns intention to install new seating along Fr. Hegarty’s walk. This is a popular stretch for visitors and the community alike with breath-taking views over Lough Swilly.

“We’ve purchased 5 benches made from recycled materials that blend perfectly with the natural environment, and all have arm and backrests for added comfort. We intend to buy and install another five seats over the next year to provide seating along the full stretch of the walk.

“It’s been a tough time for Buncrana following the devastating floods of last August, so the new seating along Fr. Hegarty’s Rock is our gift to the community. We hope our benches are enjoyed by all for many years to come.”
