The Gartan Challenge Adventure race will take place on Saturday 2nd of June and places are filling up fast.

The race was established four years ago and is now a staple on the adventure race calendar.

The race helps raise funds for the Kilmacrenan development funds for the development of much needed sports facilities and play area for the local community.

“The race was one of our first fundraisers and has raised in the region of €10,000 for the development to date,” said Raymond Shields.

“It was a great help in getting our project off the ground. The development is now coming to fruition and the play area will be completed by August and it is hoped a pitch will be laid early next year.”

The race is run in conjunction with the Gartan outdoor centre.

“We are again delighted to be running this race at the centre,” said Sean McCrudden from the centre.

“This year we have included chip timing, so everyone will have access to accurate split times. The long-range  outlook weather wise is looking very good. So everything is taking shape for a great race.”

Places are limited and Online entries are filling fast. So anyone thinking of entering is advised to do so as soon as possible.

All race info is available on www.Gartan.com or the Gartan Challenge Facebook page.
