Listen: Eamonn McConigley hails Letterkenny Rovers ‘best squad ever’

Eamonn McConigley says he is working with the ‘best squad ever’ after his Letterkenny Rovers secured a play-off that will decide the destination of the Four Lanterns Ulster Senior League.

Steve Okakpo-Emeka’s 86th minute goal today saw Rovers beat Cockhill Celtic 1-0 at Leckview Park and sets up a play-off between the two on June 6 at Dry Arch Park.

“There was nothing at stake today only three points for us,” McConigley said.

“There was no pressure on us today. They went out and worked hard there.

“I think we shaded it, big time. The football we played and the chances we made, I felt it was always going to come. I think they got caught between two stools, but we came in and scored a great goal.”

McConigley had superb success during his times as player and a manager at Fanad United, but hailed this Rovers squad as the ‘best squad ever’ he has worked with.
