Gardai are investigating an incident during which a travelling salesman preyed on an elderly man in St Johnston.
The man, who was driving a blue Ford Focus with a Northern Ireland registration, called to the pensioner’s home in Maymore just after noon on Thursday last.
The victim’s granddaughter said the man was well dressed with glasses tan skin with a briefcase and was selling jumpers and T-shirt.
The man’s granddaughter said her grandad bought two T-shirt’s and a jumper from him costing €40.
The young woman revealed “When he went to pay him the man took the wallet of my Granda and went to sink so my grandad couldn’t see what he was doing and removed a large amount of money from his wallet.
“He was driving a blue Ford Focus. We would like any information anyone would have on this man and please warn any elderly family or neighbours.”
