Kilcar consider appeal as Gaoth Dobhair awarded points by CCC

The Donegal Competitions Controls Committee (CCC) have awarded a win to Gaoth Dobhair for an All-County League Division 1 game against Kilcar that wasn’t played last month.

The CCC deliberated on the report of match referee Connie Doherty.

It is believed that the CCC made their decision to award Gaoth Dobhair the two points as Doherty’s reported indicated that Kilcar had refused to play the game in question.

On May 12, Gaoth Dobhair and Kilcar were due to meet in Magheragallon.

Gaoth Dobhair sought to have the game played on the old pitch, but Doherty said the game couldn’t go ahead there as the sidelines were too close to the perimeter wall.

Hastily, Gaoth Dobhair officials set about getting new lines in place, but Kilcar had moved to the new pitch, where the reserve game between the clubs had taken place.

Eventually, neither team would budge and players, management, spectators and officials went home.

Kilcar have 72 hours from the receipt of the decision to lodge an appeal to the Ulster Hearings Committee and it is expected they will do so.
