Donegal women conquer Croker in abseil for autism

Two Donegal women have gone ‘over the top’ for a charity abseil off Croke Park this weekend.

Sharon Greene and Maggie Green abseiled 100 feet from the roof of the iconic stadium on Saturday, raising almost €1,500 for Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland (AADI).

The Letterkenny friends cheered each other on as they took on the brave task. They also had the support of their families from below as they made the descent.

Maggie tells Donegal Daily: “It was a great day. We were so nervous but we got each other through!

“It was so well organised! Such an amazing experience and it was brilliant to have our children there watching! It’s such a good cause and knowing that we are contributing even in a small way means so much to both of us.”

Sharon, from Letterkenny, is a Systems Manager in Pramerica and Maggie teaches in the recently opened Autism Unit, An Comhar, in Letterkenny Educate Together National School.

Autism is a very important issue for Maggie through her work, and she wanted to help provide the life-changing benefits that assistance dogs bring to children and families with autism.

With the help of their supportive communities, the friends have surpassed their fundraising targets to raise almost €1,500 for AADI.
