The parents of Inishowen teenager Jamie Doherty left a touching tribute at the scene where the 14-year-old was killed on Friday evening.

Jamie died instantly when the car he as driving crashed near his grandparents’ home at Tullyally, Upper Clar, Redcastle.

He was the only person in the car and there were no other cars involved in the accident.

Jamie had just finished second year in Moville Community School and the entire area has been left numb by the tragedy.

A Garda forensics team was at the scene at first light on Saturday morning and a post mortem was carried out on Jamie’s body over the weekend. He will be laid to rest on Thursday following Funeral Mass at St Columba’s Church, Ballinacrea.

Floral tributes have been laid close to the scene of the crash.

Among them are a bunch of flowers from his parents, Shane and Evelyn.

“Jamie, you are and always will be the apple of our eye,” the accompanying card reads.

“You were too special for this world.

“We had you 14 amazing years… Love you to the moon.”
