Community is asked to keep local mum Vanessa Donohoe in their prayers

Countless prayers are being said for a popular Donegal mother as her fight continues against a serious illness in Spain.

Vanessa Donohoe suffered a severe brain aneurysm almost two weeks ago while on holiday with her husband PJ and young family. She is currently being treated in a Barcelona hospital, where she has undergone a number of surgeries.

The Newtowncunningham woman is said to be in critical condition today (Friday) following another surgery. Her community of supporters is being asked to keep her in their thoughts and to pray for her health.

Hundreds of locals attended a massive country music night on Wednesday to raise funds for Vanessa. Well-wishers packed into An Grianan Hotel in Burt for a lively concert, collections and a raffle to support her recovery fund.

Vanessa’s sudden illness in Spain was an immense shock to all the family and came with a huge financial cost. The kind-hearted community of Newtowncunningham and beyond have come together to help cover her medical bills and support her husband PJ during her illness.

A fundraising target on GoFundMe has been set at €25,000. More than 300 donations in the past 9 days have brought the total to €11,800. If you would like to donate, please click here: https://www.gofundme.com/5o57xa8
