An investigation has been launched into the cause of a fire on Letterkenny Main Street this evening.

The fire, at the rear of Lily’s Bistro, Paddy Power bookmakers and The Cottage Bar started just after 9pm.

Members of Letterkenny Fire Service rushed to the scene of the blaze which started in sheds at the rear of the premises.

It is not known at this stage what caused the fire.

A number of officers doused the sheds to prevent the fire from spreading.

The Main Street remains blocked off as of 10.30pm as fire tenders deal with the fire.

Smoke from the fire bellowed down the town’s Main Street as crowds gathered to see the cause of the fire.

Nobody was injured in the blaze but considerable damage was caused to the sheds.
