A Newtowncunningham mother is said to be making positive steps in her recovery three weeks after a sudden illness in Spain.

Vanessa Donohoe is currently undergoing treatment in Barcelona after a severe brain aneurysm during her family holiday in Salou.

The popular young woman’s fight continues after four surgeries, but her family have shared some positive news on her health today.

“Vanessa is positively moving forward in her recovery…she is very slowly getting the tube and drain removed from her head.

“Her family ask if you would please still keep her in your prayers as she recovers. Vanessa has a long road ahead but she is a wee fighter,” said a statement on Facebook.

Fundraising efforts are still going strong in the community of Newtowncunningham to support Vanessa’s recovery fund.

The David James Show fundraising dance will split profits between the Naomh Colmcille CLG and the Vanessa Recovery Fund. The live concert kicks off this Friday 29th June in the Halfway House in Burnfoot. Doors 10pm, tickets €10 from any Naomh Colmcille committee member.

Sunday 1st July will see a fabulous beauty fundraiser taking place in Fusion Hair Design Newtowncunningham. The staff have kindly volunteered their time to give the free treatments to raise money for Vanessa. Details available on Facebook here: FUSION HAIR DESIGN NEWTOWNCUNNINGHAM

A steady stream of donations has been coming into the GoFundMe page. Up to 350 donators have given €13,500 so far to the online fund. If you would like to support, please visit: https://www.gofundme.com/5o57xa8
