Donegal’s football and hurling managers played on opposite teams in Division 3 today

IT’S NOT OFTEN a county’s senior football team manager and senior hurling team manager cross horns on the field but that’s what happened today.

Declan Bonner, having taken Donegal to a ninth Ulster SFC title last Sunday with their 2-18 to 0-12 victory over Fermanagh at St Tiernach’s Park in Clones, kept goal today for his club Na Rossa in their All-County Football League Division 3 clash at Dooey.

Bonner is also the club chairman and the 52-year-old kept a clean sheet but couldn’t stop his team going down to an 0-11 to 0-6 loss.

A second half substitute for the visitors was Mickey McCann, the Donegal hurling boss, who last weekend took his team to victory in the Nicky Rackard final at Croke Park, where they defeated Warwickshire 2-19 to 0-18.
