A leading Donegal golf club has given vandals a chance to explain why they used a wire-snippers to attack their premises.

The vandal struck at Buncrana Golf Club in the early hours of Friday morning.

The thug used the heavy duty cutters to cut both sides of some fencing before throwing the section of fencing onto the golf course.

However, unknown to the attacker is that the entire episode which happened beside the 9th hole just before 5am was captured on CCTV security cameras.

Now the club has given the vandal a chance to explain what their grievance against the club is.

If they do not come forward then the club has threatened to go to the Gardai.

The club expressed their outrage on their official Facebook page.

A spokesperson said “The person came armed with Heavy Duty Wire Snips and proceeded to cut both sides of the section, the section fell out towards the road and he then proceeded to throw the section back into the course.

“What the person failed to realise is that our HD Security Cameras very clearly picked up the entire event from their entry and exit from the tented area of our neighbors.

“We would like to give this person every opportunity to explain his actions to us in person and air out any gripe that they may have with our fence. You can contact us here in person or you can ring the clubhouse on 9362279.

“Failure to do so will result in us having no other option than to pass on the Security Camera footage to the Gardai who will then be in contact.”
