A Donegal Bed and Breakfast which was hit by last year’s torrential flood received a huge boost after golfer Rory McIlroy stayed there for the Irish Open.

Riversdale luxury B&B outside Carndonagh played host to Rory and his staff during the amazing event at Ballyliffin last week.

The six-bedroomed house is owned by Sharon and Wilson Moore.

It was a finalist in the 2017 Irish Bed and Breakfast fo the Year Awards.

As well as having stunning accommodation, Riversdale also boats a working farm with lots of animals.

However, the couple’s Bernese Mountain dog, Jessie, was understood to be a particularly big hit with the McIlroys.

Cllr. Seamus O’Domhnaill, Cathaoirleach Donegal County Council presenting Rory McIlroy with painting by local artist Sharon McDaid in recognition of hosting the 2018 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open in Ballyliffin with Seamus Neely, Chief Executive Donegal County Council.
