Two men and a child have been saved from the sea this afternoon after a boat capsized off Malin Head.

A search and rescue operation was launched after 4pm when a small fishing vessel capsized off the North Donegal coast.

It is now reported that all three people have been recovered from the water. A third man who was missing for some time was found before 6pm. He is believed to be in his 70s and his condition is described as serious, RTE News reports.

The child has been airlifted to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry, while the second man is said to be in a stable condition.

The search and rescue operation involved lifeboat crews from the Lough Swilly RNLI, the Malin Head Coast Guard and the Coast Guard Helicopter.
