‘Case dismissed’ as DRA reject Kilcar appeal from the game that wasn’t

Kilcar’s appeal against the awarding of two All-County Football League Division 1 points to Gaoth Dobhair over a game that wasn’t played has been turned down by the Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA).

The appeal centred on the scheduled May 12 meeting of the clubs at Magheragallon, which didn’t go ahead after a dispute arose over which of the two pitches the game would be played on.

The Donegal Competitions Controls Committee (CCC) awarded Gaoth Dobhair a walkover win as the reported of the appointed referee, Connie Doherty, indicated a refusal to play the game on Kilcar’s part.

The Kilcar club appealed the decision to the Ulster Hearings Committee, who upheld the Donegal CCC’s decision at a hearing in Armagh last month.

Kilcar opted against a submission to the Central Hearings Committee and, instead, elected to take their case to the DRA, the ultimate arbitrators in such disputes.

At a hearing last Thursday night in the Kilmore Hotel, Cavan, the various parties presented their cases, Kilcar as the claimant and the Donegal CCC and Ulster Hearings Committee as the respondents. Gaoth Dobhair were present as an interested party in the matter.

The DRA dismissed the case and their full ruling on the matter is expected to be published soon.
