Carndonagh’s Jessica Clarke to fight in Irish U18 flyweight final

Carndonagh ABC flyweight Jessica Clarke is gunning for her latest Irish title when she faces old foe Caitlin Fryers on Friday night.

Clarke – pictured with her sister, Labhaoise – squares up to Belfast’s Fryers, of the Immaculata club, in the 51kgs decider at the National U18 finals at the National Stadium.

The two are well versed in each other’s strengths.

While Clarke defeated Fryers in an Ulster final, it was Fryers who had the edge in an Irish Junior 2 final last year.

Clarke and Fryers have their latest instalment this week in Dublin.

Fryers was a World Youth bronze medallist last year and will compete next month at the World Championships in Hungary.
