Much-loved Lifford man Paul Harte has sadly passed away today, aged 53.

Paul passed away in Lifford Community Hospital, a week after he was transferred closer to home following a campaign led by his loving family.

Paul’s sister Donna shared the sad news on Facebook today, writing: “Our Angel has flown his wings, we are all devastated. Thank you to everybody for all your lovely support.”

Paul, who had dementia and lived with Down Syndrome, had his case highlighted in recent weeks when his family sought to have him admitted to Lifford Community Hospital for palliative care. Management had initially refused the move under various grounds, which were subsequently lifted following the family campaign.
