A leading Donegal-based Garda has appealed to the public not post information on social media that they are attending weddings.
Inspector David Murphy said with numerous weddings taking place across Donegal throughout the summer, people are giving information out to people who could prey on empty homes.
The Buncrana based Garda told Donegal Daily “It’s just something I would ask people to give a little more thought to.
“So many people are on social media and sometimes we say a little too much without even releasing it.
“Once that information is made public then there are certainly people out there who will use it to their advantage.
“There are a lot of weddings going on during the summer months and we would ask people not to post that they are going to weddings so that others know their homes may be unoccupied,” he said.
