Mark English crowned 800m national champion for fifth time

MARK ENGLISH’S GRIP on the 800m crown at the Irish Life Health National Athletics Championships remains intact.

The Letterkenny native, who was representing UCD, clocked  1:50.81 in Santry to win the national title for the fifth time in succession.

English will be representing Ireland at the European Athletics Championships in Berlin, Germany, next week.

Elsewhere, there was silver for Letterkenny AC’s Darren McBrearty in the 1500m and bronze for James Kelly in the shot-put.
