Traditional Basque dancers to perform Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter

A unique event is planned for the Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter in August as they host a special performance from Traditional Basque Dance Group ‘Burgaintzi Taldea’.

This performance will take place on Sunday, 12 August in the yard behind No. 1 and No. 3 Church Lane, beginning at 8pm.

It will be an evening of cultural exchange as there will be a reenactment of the Letterkenny Hiring Fairs which was performed earlier this year for the Pan Celtic Festival.

‘Burgaintzi Taldea’ are from the St Palais in the heart of the Pays Basque Region of South West France.

This will be the group’s only performance in Letterkenny during their week-long tour of Ireland.

They will be appearing at the Feile an Phobail in West Belfast before arriving in Letterkenny and will then travel on to Donegal Town, Galway City and Dublin.

This event promises to be another very special evening in the Cathedral Quarter. For those attending this unique event, it will be a reminder of the early years of ‘Letterkenny International Folk Festival’ with International cultural groups now visiting the area.
