Donegal Gardai warn people not to answer ’88’ calls

Gardai in Donegal have warned phone-users of a scam operating across the county.

They have advised people not to answer calls beginning with the prefix ’88’

A spokesman explained that anyone who answers the call risks being charged considerable fees.

Gardai in Donegal posted the following message on their Facebook page.

“We have been alerted of scam callers from +88 numbers going on in Donegal at the moment.

“+88 is Mobile Satellite Phone (Globalstar) prefix and if you call the number back you will be charged a lot of money €€€”
